Chad Smith of Remote Access Post recently completed color correction duties on 3 spots to air on ESPN Christmas day. The spots are a tie in with the new feature film “Ride Along” starring Ice Cube and Kevin Hart. The videos show Ice Cube and Kevin ballin’ with NBA stars Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul and Andre Iguodala. The kickin’ track is provided by Hart who aces a reworking of the classic Skee-Lo rap “I Wish”.
All the color grading was done in DaVinci Resolve 10. Remote Access Post was provided a single quicktime file of picture lock for grading. “Using Resolves scene cut detection feature makes this an efficient workflow, especially when working remotely.” said Smith “Having to deal with one quicktime file makes it easier for both client and colorist.”
With Resolves node based workflow it makes it easier to keep track of grades that can get complex. “Some of the corrections for this project got very involved and used many nodes” said Smith. Here are some before and after stills of the color grade.
